Mãi Osaka Pop-up

Mãi Osaka Pop-up marked Mãi’s launch in Japan, taking place at Nakanoshima Museum.

About the project

Building from the brand’s own story, Base and I translated the spirit of Mãi into a spatial experience, developed in Vietnam while staying closely rooted in the essence of “Mãi.” Building from the brand’s own story, Base and I translated the spirit of Mãi into a spatial experience, developed in Vietnam while staying closely rooted in the essence of “Mãi.”

The inherent playfulness of the product packaging became a key spatial element. The visual language of the table and chair packaging was multiplied throughout the limited exhibition space—not simply through repetition, but through repetition at scale, creating an immersive sense of abundance within a confined setting. At the same time, the overall design was intentionally kept minimal, allowing visitors to feel naturally invited into the space and engage with Mãi through play and exploration.

The event posters extended this idea further. Rather than introducing a new visual layer, they enlarged the information sheets originally found inside each product package, transforming an existing part of the brand experience into a prominent element of the exhibition.

Across social media, Mãi’s 3D visual language continues to explore the ideas of repetition, multiplication, and propagation through a variety of compositions and movements. Together, these elements create a playful and ever-expanding visual world for Mãi.

A truly joyful experience for Mãi—one that we hope you can feel through the images.
